Bike Rally – Kargil Vijay Diwas – Ride for Jawans’
The Kargil war will go down in Indian history as the most painful and heartbreaking experience for war veterans.
To pay tribute to the selfless souls and to keep them all in our memories forever, the “Akila Karnataka army war veterans” have asked the government to declare July 26 as a national holiday, so that the victory of the Kargil war can be celebrated and their sacrifices remembered all over the country. A small gesture of the immense respect we feel for the sacrifices made by our soldiers.
She for Society is proud to organise a bike rally- A Ride For Our Jawans- with all ex-servicemen in Karnataka as a VOICE FOR ARMY WAR VETERANS to support this noble cause. Ex-servicemen salute at the National War Memorial, and a Memorandum is presented to the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka. Every citizen of our country should be aware of the following facts about the Kargil War:
- The Kargil war was fought between India and Pakistan in the Kargil district of Kashmir along the line of control (LOC) between May and July 1999.
- The war was fought at extremely high altitudes in mountainous terrain, posing numerous logistical challenges for both sides.
- As part of Operation Vijay, the Indian Army fought valiantly and evicted the Pakistani intruders, recapturing Tiger Hill, a strategic location, as well as other posts.
- After a three-month conflict in which both sides lost lives, the Indian soldiers achieved victory.
- Unfortunately, we must state that our country lost 527 officers, jawans, and soldiers, and approximately 1300 were permanently disabled, as a result of this most deadly clash between the two countries – “The Kargil war.”
- On July 26, 1999, the Army declared the mission a success; since then, the day has been celebrated annually as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
